As a Software Developer with a passion for creativity, joining IoT Horizon was a natural fit. I was immediately drawn to the company’s forward-thinking mission, vision, and values, which align closely with my own personal and professional goals. Could you tell us a little about your role at IoT Horizon?

As a Software Developer at IoT Horizon, my role is to design, develop, and maintain our Neronis® IoT platform to meet the needs of our clients. I work closely with technical leads and other developers to ensure that the software we produce is of the highest quality, is scalable, and meets industry standards. This involves using a variety of programming languages, tools, and frameworks to write, test, and debug code. I also participate in code reviews and collaborate with other developers to ensure that our codebase is maintainable and efficient.

As an integral part of the team, my role is critical to the success of the company, and I take great pride in my work. I am dedicated to working collaboratively with my colleagues to achieve the company’s goals and to delivering solutions that exceed our clients’ expectations.

What are you working on at the moment?

My primary focus is on our Neronis® IoT platform. Specifically, I am working on developing standardised dashboards which enable our clients to easily monitor their IoT devices and make data-driven decisions. Additionally, I am also involved in integrating existing and new sensors into the platform to ensure that the data collected is accurately displayed on the dashboards. Overall, my work is geared towards making our IoT platform more user-friendly and efficient for our clients.

What’s one of your favourite things about working in the business?

I appreciate the constant opportunity to learn and grow as a software developer. Each new project presents a unique set of challenges that allow me to stay abreast of the latest technologies and programming languages. Additionally, the company’s commitment to professional development through training programs and conferences keeps me up to date with the latest industry trends and advancements.

But what truly sets this workplace apart is the culture of teamwork and collaboration. Working alongside some of the most talented and dedicated individuals in the industry has been an incredible experience. We support and challenge each other to be the best that we can be, resulting in high-quality work and successful projects.

Furthermore, my manager Tom happens to be one of my oldest friends, which only adds to the positive work environment. Over our 20-year friendship, we’ve developed an excellent rapport and communication style, which enhances our work as a team. Together, we have tackled some of the most challenging projects, and I look forward to many more successful collaborations in the future.

A fun fact about you:

I went to Iceland with a friend a few weeks ago and whilst we were there our van had a few troubles on the icy roads, so we ended up sliding into a ditch and getting stuck for 5 hours. Luckily the van didn’t take heavy damage, so we were able to keep the heating on, and we killed some of the time by watching The Northman, which was topical as it’s set in Iceland.
